Must be 18 years or older (or apply through a parent/guardian for children).

Must have permanent resident status with no immigration or legal issues.

Must have lived in Canada for 1,460 days within the last 6 years.

Must have been physically present for at least 183 days in each of four calendar years within the last 6 years.

Children under 18 are exempt from residency requirements.

Must meet personal income tax obligations for 4 out of the last 6 years.

Must declare intent to reside in Canada, work as a Crown servant, or live abroad with family members who are Crown servants.

Must demonstrate adequate proficiency in English or French.

Must pass a citizenship test covering Canada's history, values, institutions, and responsibilities (applicable for ages 14 to 64).
